Join me Thursday, October 17th-20th, 2024 for a 4-day workshop at my studio, 949a Mirror Lake Road, Yardley, PA

For two long weekends a year, I open up my heart and my studio fully to a small, intimate group where we work on two mixed media projects with a strong emphasis on process & meaning. Our intimate group will gather, simmer, share circle and connect through creativity, fresh air and pure joy.

This is a weekend of play, exploration and epiphanies as we use mixed media & art journaling to to reconnect with our creativity and to deeply embrace our own creative process.

These long weekends are twice a year and so intimate. People who attend feel as if a huge creative shift happens inside them. We will create a safe space to explore and experiment with a feast of materials. My studio will become your studio.

In this workshop, we will use all kinds of mixed media to create canvases that are three dimensional and filled with meaning, layers and pieces of our hearts. Each canvas will have our own words typed, stamped or stitched into our pieces. Paper, fabric, thread, yarn and pops of color will our media..

We will also be working on one of a kind art journals, honoring exactly where we are in this moment. We will take take apart pieces of ephemera (book covers, dresses, boxes) and re-assemble them, while putting in pieces of ourselves.

The art slow stitching and intuition will be a part of our circles.

I share all of my art supplies with you with the hope of you seeing the entire world as your art store.

With a 237-acre historic farm as our backdrop, we will work outside and inside my magic studio cottage to get out our heads and into our hearts.

If you are looking to find or rejuvenate the artist and writer within, these fall days will rejuvenate your soul.

We will begin with a candlelight dinner on the farm *outside my cottage studio from 6pm to 8:30pm, under twinkle lights* on Thursday evening (weather permitting...if not, we dine in the studio). Friday is a full creative day (10am to 5:30pm) in the cottage and outside in the fresh air. Saturday begins with a field trip (we meet at 9am at Golden Nugget Flea Market) and treasure hunting and then back to the studio for lunch, show & tell and to create. Sunday we gather through early afternoon (1:30ish) as we finish and share all the gifts of the weekend. We will work outside on the farm as the leaves gently fall down over us and crunch under our feet.

Our long fall weekend together includes:

Endless art supplies and inspiration.
Dinner on the farm, two morning continental breakfasts, three studio lunches, snacks and bottomless coffee and tea.
Two different projects, an altered art journal and a media media canvas. Both projects will open our hearts up as we create using the materials around us, in my studio and on the farm, using many mixed media techniques. We will be doing all types of photos transfers, layering, painting, cyanotype, sewing on paper, stream of conscious writing and experimenting with water-soluble materials and fibers...plus whatever else I discover over the winter.
On Saturday morning, we will treasure hunt through an out door flea market searching for ephemera and goodness to use at the studio and to bring back home. Don’t be surprised to find hidden treasures inside the treasures.

There are fabulous AirBNB's in Yardley, Newtown, Langhorne, Pa (Bucks County) as well as in Lambertville, NJ (about 20 minutes from my studio and the love bubble artsy river town that I live in). Cancellation policy: No refunds after May 20th, 2024. You may transfer (means you may apply funds another attendee) through September 20, 2024. All requests for refunds must be received in writing by May 20th, 2023. In the case of acts of God, war, disaster or unforeseen circumstances, Colleen Attara Studio reserves the right to reschedule this workshop. There will be a $75 administration fee on all cancellations. There are no exceptions.

These questions sometimes arise...

What unit of measure do you use?

All product measurements are listed in inches.

What is the "small word add-on?"

The small word add-on allows you to add an additional small (6-8") cardboard or plastic word to your order. The small word will be the same as your large word.

How do I hang the salvaged words?

I use the little foam squares from AC Moore or similar craft stores. They fit perfectly behind the words and also add a great dimension. They do not harm paint. In my studio I have some that have been up for years.

I also love to lean the words...over a doorway, a window, or on top of a picture. The dinner table is a favorite place of mine. I use clear squares if I hang the words on a mirror.

Can salvaged words be outside?

The salvaged plexi words can, yes! And they float in water. The last little words are salvaged cardboard and should be kept indoors.

When will I receive my order?

Prints will ship out in 1 to 2 business days. Hand-scripted words ship within a week. Custom orders (e.g., Your Word and Your Name) will be processed in 1 - 3 weeks.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes...a whole bunch. Please expect delivery to take longer than noted above as packages will be making their way across mountains, sand, or sea.

What about refunds and exchanges?

If an order arrived damaged due to shipping, please contact me.
